View Full Version : Yo D-Dub, when is the modding available and what can we except?
I am curious. After releasing the game you guys said to work on the modding tools. Any news on that? Feed us a bone here. What can we expect? How long do we have to wait? Is it going to be idiot friendly stuff or do we have to be hardcore techies to get something out of it? Keep us posted please!

The MOD kit is currently under way. We do not have an official release date but we are working to get it out ASAP. At this point the plan is to get the tools we have out first and rely on the feedback of the community to complete the documentation and additional features.
We also plan on releasing all of the script code used to create BoneCraft. Right off the bat moders should be able to change many aspects of the existing game to thier liking. This includes things like characters, missions, weapons, speeds, velocities, etc.
In addition to simply changing the existing game, we also plan on releasing a feature that will allow moders to create custom games. This feature will include many tools that beginners should be able to pick up fairly quickly, as well as more in depth tools for expierienced moders. The bulk of these tools will be included in the World Editor.
The World Editor will allow users to create and manipulate assets such as:
-Terrain
-Buildings
-Static Objects (rocks, trees, etc.)
-Water
-Sky
-Day/Night Cycle
-Lights
-AI Paths
-GUI
Moders will be able to use any BoneCraft assets and we are working to bring over many assets from BoneTown.
Because we will be releasing all of the script code used to create BoneCraft moders will be able to look under the hood to see how we did things in our script files. Also we hope to include a few simple tutorials on writing script. Using script moders will be able to do things like:
-Create characters
-Make characters fight
-Make characters have sex
-Create new missions
Please check back on the forum, we will have updates as we get closer to having it ready.

Will there be a website specifically for the modders to share their work
(like the Nexus for Fallout)?
So ppl who can't torrent can still upload & download mods.

the first thing i would change is that annoying knockback from the opponents. I spend more time sitting on my ass than i'm actually fighting. The Man Agency was already annoying....but that gay elf-dick plants shitheads are beyond fucked up. And i would add more bodyseize girls. Medium chicks would be nice to see ingame too.

This is awesome. I do have a question however. Is it possible to change the functions of those mission start terminals. I'm thinking about making an RTS mod and I'm wondering if it will be possible to add custom scripts to them. So for example, say I wanted a terminal to have upgrades for a building, would it be possible for me to create a custom terminal that I could have the upgrades attached to? Or will I have to create a whole new object because mission terminals will always have unit upgrades and sex bot selection? Hope that makes sense. It's very late.

I was wondering the same things. A RTS mod would be interesting, not to mention it makes a terrible lot of sense. The mod tools remind me of Starcraft's mod tools, actually... but I was a teenager when all that came out, and it looked pretty daunting back then, for building a simple level. (I ended up building levels for TA:Kingdoms and games that had more friendly tools.) I'm sure I'll figure it out how to do some basics, one way or the other... but I really want to see a RTS mode. As it is, the game is simply difficult because it floods the map with opponents that do tons of knockdown and knockback. You either learn to block (things you can't entirely expect) or you spend more time avoiding combat than engaging.
Also, I have everything you can purchase now, and the money just keeps stacking up. I sorta wish there were more ammo types (shotgun shells/cannon shells). More upgrades/temp powers. New stuff to spend in game money on. I have yet to complete all the objectives by far... but some of the missions are just tedious. Meh, maybe I'm just not a real gamer. Heh. Still, I'd like to see something that negates knockdown/knockback. I prefer if the alt-function was a toggle, rather than an activatable. The difference would be that each time that you ran out, it would automatically up your dose again, until you toggled the buff off. This would also prevent you from drinking fuel/injecting ammo twice in a row to no effect.
Perhaps they could add different power armor sets you could buy. Some Protoss/Tau looking armor would be rad.
Perhaps Shotgun Shells for the shotgun with an inject feature that gives you knockback/knockdown immunity. Cannon Shells that up your melee/unarmed damage when activated. New Grenades. A Frag Grenade with the Shotgun that does an attack debuff on enemies. A stun Grenade for the Cannon that dazes your foes. (Follow up with a cannon shot, right?)
Also, add more attributes to weapons. I feel like the Space Marine Chainsword should have a bleed effect on foes it hits. You could make it so Space Marine/Elf/Orc weapons each focus on different effects.
